At least once in our lives, each of us has experienced something that feels totally miraculous and unexplainable.
- Music, for example — almost magically — always moves people.
- Unanswered questions create curiosity and spur action.
- The slightest touch of nature can inspire greatness from us.
These are things we can’t explain very well, but they ‘work’ and they deliver massive results.
Today I have a fresh taboo to talk with you about. It’s tricky to explain, but has helped millions (billions?) of people throughout history, and is incredibly popular today.
You read about it in the newspaper everyday, but probably pay it very little attention. Or maybe you pay it too much attention.
I know I did.
What controversial subject am I talking about?
Read on and we’ll get into it, but first, a few questions:
***
Science, Art, And More
Has science helped your life? How about art? Do you benefit from those things? And do you ‘get’ that benefit without really understanding them too deeply?
If you’re like most people, the answer’s yes. We get tons of joy from music and art, but rarely do we understand their magic on any deep level.
I mean, how well do we really understand art? How deep do we, as individuals, ‘get’ science?
Don’t we learn something new all the time? We once thought the earth was flat, we once thought there were only 5 planets.
And what about more abstract sciences — quantum physics, chaos theory, or even the minefield of psychology?
Most people don’t really ‘get’ this stuff, but we use music, art, and science in our lives.
We tend to trust passionate experts who’ve dedicated their lives to studying this stuff.
I’m included.
And I’ve done it with something that’s super-important in life.
Understanding personalities and people.
Yep, I, Jason Fonceca, totally glossed over a super-important cornerstone of personality-analysis.
Even though it had the potential to help me in big ways.
To know yourself, your quirks and desires it’s so helpful. Same goes for other people.
Wouldn’t things be a lot simpler and more certain if I knew how we interact?
Of course it would.
Well, did you know that there’s an intense, hyper-developed system of personality analysis , with ties to very wise & ancient cultures, as well as ties to quantum physics.
And it’s not too hard to get started.
"Good lord, Jason, get to the point, right?"
Well I will, but I know this was a touchy subject for a lot of my intellectual friends back in the day, and it was a subject that I first made fun of, then enjoyed on a surface level, but never went much deeper.
I want to prepare you properly before I introduce it.
Basically, attitudes towards it are pretty f***ed up, narrow-minded, and it gets a lot of hate.
But then so does porn and so does being rich & famous, and Ryzers are open to new ideas on those.
So you’re probably ready for it.
But…to pave the way…
Let me first say that this monumental discipline is accepted & supported by brilliant people such as: Einstein, Ben Franklin, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Let me also say that the subject I’m about to tell you about, is more popular than ever. It’s like reality TV, everyone’s guilty pleasure, even if they’re haters in public.
And let me tell you a story from my life.
Ready?
Good.

The Story Of Monica
I had a relationship for a few years with a hyper-passionate, ambitious, eco-friendly astrologer-chick.
Let’s call her…
She loooved astrology.
She did my chart. She did hers. She did our "synastry" (relationship) chart. She did the charts of my friends and family.
And I learned a lot.
Some of it incredibly interesting.
I learned that I have some magnificent, visionary, rarely-encountered-chart with 5 planets all in the same house or something, which may matter, or she may have just wanted my cock
(she knew I do so love being praised, admired, and valued.)
I learned that a massive chunk of people who get their charts done professionally, with an open mind, are totally stunned with the intimacy, accuracy, and detail the chart says of their personality.
I learned that most astrologers started out as skeptics, thinking that its silly.
I learned that many famous people, world-leaders and decision-makers consult professional astrologers, but usually as secretly as possible.
I also learned what pissed me off about astrology.
In my experience, most astrologers see themselves as very (or completely) subject to the whims of the planets.
Eww.
Basically, most astrologers are pussys who accept their lot in life, settle, and act like they can’t change a thing.
Does that sound like Ryze to you?
Hell no.
But on with the story…
…this chick’s telling me my chart, and explaining my inner-most dreams, drives, and desires — stuff I’ve barely thought about consciously — and get this…
…she’s nailing it.
I mean, it’s freaky. She’s pegging me spot on, like she’d done years of research into my life, and had known me since I was a kid.
And this is back when I was way intellectual & logic-driven, and less spiritual.
My mind was blown, but I didn’t show it.
And then she’s predicting stuff.
And I’m like — damn, if she’s so accurate on the past and present… can she really predict my future?
She’s telling me J, you’re gonna do this and J, you’re gonna do that, and the whole time…
"Oh hell no, she’s telling ME what I’M gonna do? Who died and made her God, lol." I thought.
And I felt I had to take a stand.
I’m not one to ‘accept my lot in life’, and just be poor or be bored or whatever.
I’m not gonna act like I have no power.
I knew better. I knew I was a powerful guy, in control of my own destiny.
But I was really impressed with her skills.
Suffice to say, I had a whole new appreciation for the ‘weird pseudo-science’ that I thought was astrology.
But the two ideas didn’t seem to mesh — I couldn’t respect astrology’s awesome insight into my personality and life, but then dismiss it’s prediction-skills.
And I couldn’t act like I totally 100% create my life and astrology has nothin’ at all to do with it, because it suddenly felt clearly related.
And I defy anyone to get a professional reading from a passionate teacher of astrology and not feel the same way.
So there I was, stuck.
Was my life fate according to the stars? Were my successes and failures already determined?
Or was my life my choice, where a badass like me gets to create what I want, moment to moment, using my thoughts, feelings, and focus?
Fate vs. choice – an ancient riddle.
I definitely appreciated Monica’s insight and info, but I never really "bit", y’know?
So I dropped the subject for a while, and just went about my business.
Eventually, I let Monica "kick herself to the curb" and I left astrology on the table.
***
Fast-forward a few years, and I’m homeless and searching for answers out of that hole.
How did I get there, how can I move forward?
So, sleepless, hungry, and basically out of success books to read — I visit Zodiac City, just for fun.
And of course, the personality insights it offers are pretty much spot on, and suddenly my memory is triggered.
I instantly remember a lot of what Monica said.
Feeling inspired, I head to Indigo (Canadian version of Barnes & Noble) to see how astrology relates to success, and I read all about personality archetypes, which can be easily observed, since like, forever.
I read about fates and destiny and how all matter is vibration.
I read about how microwaves are high-frequency local vibes that affect whatever’s nearby.
I read about how the stars are very long, very low frequencies we can’t detect, but that influence everything.
Some of it was deep, some not-so-deep, but a lot of what I was reading made sense.
But I still had that annoying deal-breaker.
The stars can’t run my life — if I run my life — right?
By now you probably realized that the answer to "What controversial subject might be affecting your success?" is astrology.
And you can tell that for me, the idea that the stars ran my life did NOT feel right.
So what does feel right?
Well, I’ll tell you.
I was reading an interesting astrology book, talking about life, personality types, and our soul (Codex Of The Soul by Verdarluz), and I had an epiphany.
I figured it out.
It’s not fate vs. choice.
Fate and choice work together.
We don’t have 1 set path, but we do have something guiding us and calling us towards certain things.
When we do them, it feels fantastic.
It’s not "the stars determine everything!", and it’s not "I, here on earth, control everything!"
It’s more than that.
Astrology* is a co-pilot to our life.
It offers guidance, direction, and tons of insight. The stars may influence us, but just like two partners side-by-side, I still have a say.
*(or religion or nature or whatever higher-power you subscribe to)
And what if, yes, what if, astrology has the ability to help me be more fulfilled and feel more successful.
Let’s put the pop-astrology of the newspaper horoscopes aside and dig deeper into the real ‘art and science’ of it.
***
Have you ever felt like there’s something greater at work in your life? That "this" can’t be all there is, or all that’s going on?
It’s a powerful question, that most people answer yes to.
Humanity is a language-based species, always expressing, So for such a complex feeling, every culture has a language to talk about. it.
Whether it’s religion, quantum physics, or astrology, this questions needs talked about.
Try to live without ever once talking about it
Well, that ‘something greater’ has some kind of influence and relevance — it has to — knowwhatImean?
Now, that begs the question.. which has the ‘final say’, us, or some greater power?
Who knows. Maybe it changes. I lean towards me, here having the final say
We’re here to surprise ourselves
Our focused, in-the-moment decisions trump everything, we always have the ability to choose.
The thing is, most of the time, you don’t wanna be trumping your co-pilot.
Ideally you wanna be a team with whatever blueprint you have in your life. You wanna be in harmony with your co-pilot.
And that might be astrology, God, emotions or whatever else you feel helps you personally.
Astrology’s main thing, since the beginning is, as above so below, and that everything’s connected, like a butterflies wings and a hurricane.
So, I don’t know about you, but I figured, maybe it’s time for me to learn a bit more about this influential star-power.
Tons of famous, successful people have it play a major role in their lives, and something must be working, because people keep coming back. (Nicki Minaj is a sagittarius and proud of it.)
The wisdom of crowds is strong.
And after all, if we can believe things like The Butterfly Effect, and people understand this, then why not the shift of planets?
So I looked into it, and this is what I found.
Astrology Is…
1. Astrology is just a path (a tool, a language) — and one of many.
You don’t have to use it, I’m sure there’s tons of people who lead very fulfilling lives without it.
I mean, I was one of them for ~30 years.
But… I grow. I change. I learn. And I see more and more important connections every day. It’s kinda my thing.
2. Astrology is massively criticized. Loved or hated.
The main criticism is that the measurements of early astronomers, the zodiac calendar created 2000 years ago is inaccurate. The signs in the papers are 2-3 weeks away from their original positions in the calendar.
Maybe, maybe not. The Pyramids are pretty exactly measured, y’know?
Let’s say that early star signs were inaccurate. "Oh no! Now all astrology has zero benefit to humanity…" right?
No. More like: who the fuck cares?
Do these critics get that inaccurate things are still helpful?
Look– if your car didn’t work, and it was making you miserable and not knowing how to move forward, and someone came by and INACCURATELY duct-taped that car together, so that you could arrive safe and sound at home — would you sit around bitching that the did a not-so-precise job?
No. You’d use the car, and thank them for it.
Astrology is a vehicle that might just get you to the success you want, and everyone’s trying to get from A to B.
And hey, if you’re reading this, the other stuff you’ve tried probably hasn’t worked so great yet, eh? You’re open to new ideas to try?
Or at the very least it could be better — so… give astrology a chance to make it better.
Hah. Listen to me, I sound like an astrology-advocate, but I’m really not.
I don’t know that much about it. I haven’t used it to massive effect. I don’t turn to it to solve everything.
It’s just way more interesting, and way more insightful, and way more beneficial than I used to give it credit for.
So I’m experimenting, and I like encouraging open-mindedness, and I know that many successful people have benefitted from astrology.
Maybe you can too.
***
So let’s look at an astrology chart (birth chart) and find out just how eerily accurate we can predict influences, and we’ll do it with the most personal, vulnerable thing I can think of.
Me.
Yep. I’m gonna share an excerpt my chart.
Many people have never seen an astrological chart, or the insight that comes from it, especially with someone they ‘know’ fairly well, even if it’s just through their blog.
Well, here’s your chance to check it out.
Below I share my chart’s ins-and-outs, and I’ll share with you personal truths and stories that relate, and maybe that’ll de-mystify it a bit.
Very personal examples.
| Astrological Chart | Is it correct? | My input. |
|---|---|---|
Sun/Moon in VirgoYou’re basically hard-working, and you delight in serving others.Virgo’s connected with ritual, craftsmanship and the urge to perfect; virtuosity. You enjoy sensible tasks and do not try to avoid them, especially if they involve constant change of detail. You adapt easily to things, finding and giving guidance. (Oh, and you like privacy.) Sexually you’re curious, but afraid of losing yourself in the ocean of eros. You love to work in daily routines, especially when new tasks don’t alter how you\re used to operating. You’re broad-minded, but not beyond accepted social standards. You’re always sorting what’s worthwhile from what’s of no further use. Virgos’re always facilitating, often caring more for others than for self. |
Astrology gets it right?Harmony between inner and outer life? Check. Delight in giving service? Check. Acutely observant and detailed and careful? Check. Unafraid of what needs done? Check. Love reasonable privacy? Check. Sexually inquisitive? Check. Humanitarian? Check. Tasteful within societal standards? Check. Wants recognition for intellect? Check. Craftsmanship + virtuosity? Check. Redeeming + salvaging + serving others? Check. Adaptable + offering guidance? Check. Often caring more for others than self? Agh, for so so so long. Check. |
Jason Says:Now, from what I understand — and again, I’m no expert — I’m not strictly a virgo, I’m a virgo/libra ‘cusp’, which means I’m sort of… between signs. Anyway, the point is if you’ve read my personal stories, and read about my passion for (over)giving and helping people ryze up, the excellent, detailed, service-oriented life of a virgo makes total and complete sense. I was shocked at how well my life fit into ‘the mold.’ |
Ascendant in LeoYou aim towards nobility and regality. Your life’ll be influenced by decisions you make for your desire for power & authority & your need for others to see your courage. In life you’ll act with a generous and amiable nature. Your life will unfold themselves swiftly, and a life full of chance will come from your desire to rule, organize, and hold the keys of authority. Be aware that in your overly strong impulses pose a danger of failures in life. Egocentricity is one of the prices of Leo rising. Also, your personality becomes excessively charged with passion & sexual desire, but it also grants a large dose of vitality as well as a fine physical shape and a strong constitution. You have lots of willpower, using both your mind and your emotions to strive for success with zeal. You’re very self-assured and you act on ideas with confidence . It’d be good if you weren’t so candid and if you did not expect others to act and feel as you do. Leo grants you very loving relationships where you bring happiness and warmth to your loved one. In your sexual relationships you’re happy, strong, playful and even a little innocent. You’ll always act better as a leader than a subordinate. Your main goal will be to secure financial success, gaining good fortune, & the favour of others. |
More clear insight?Flair for life, nobility, and luxury? Check. Desire for power & authority? Check. Frank, generous and amiable? Check. Life unfolds swiftly? Check. Strong impulses leading to failure + upsets? Check. Pride, sensitivity, and egocentric? More so back in the day, but Check. Excessively passionate + sexual? [grin] Large does of vitality, fine physical shape, strong constitution? Check. Mad will-power? Zealous success? Check. Insanely candid + direct? Check. Expecting others to think like me? Well, more so back in the day, but again… why shouldn’t they? My thinking is So Satisfying. Try it Sincere, affectionate, happy, strong, playful, innocent relationships? Check. Better as a leader than a follower? Check. Life objective success + prosperity? Check. Benefit from being trusted with authority? Check. |
Jason Says:Okay, if we go by just the ‘virgo’ birth sign, I sound kinda boring. And I certainly don’t seem like someone aimed at nobility + regality. But astrological systems are way more complex and developed than ‘just the birth sign’. My ‘Leo Rising’ says I’ll be positive, easy-going, and direct. Yep. It also says my life events will unfold swiftly, full of luck resulting in my authority. Well, I’ve been homeless 3 times, arrested, betrayed deeply more than once, had 8 failed businesses, and 8 failed LTRS — and I’m just past 30. And when I share those stories — people listen to my wisdom. It also talks about my willpower and opportunity awareness and confidence. Again, I refer you to my personal stories of despair and triumph. Lastly, I do have a very very good relationship to sex, and I love being a leader, which is why I run my own business, and I definitely wanna keep ryzing. |
BAM. (chart is a combination of this free online chart generator, and this one, and this one.)
Now, if it can peg me so amazingly well, just from a couple free online tools, what can it do for you?*
*Note; Professional astrologers will tell you that we all have all the planets and signs in our chart at the time of our birth, and so every human being is a blend of all these different qualities, in different amounts. The whole world doesn’t fit into 12 categories, so keep that in mind.
The Wrap-Up
Ancient cultures used astrology as an incredible decision-making tool. When to fish, travel, war, peace — everything. And you know what?
Day in, day out, astrology worked for them. They did well by it. They thrived.
(I won’t get into why these cultures disappeared, maybe it was jus their time
)
And I don’t know about all this predicting the future stuff, and astrology can get pretty complex, but at the very least — it’s a fantastic look at yourself and the personality of others.
If you’ve never looked into it and experimented with an open mind, and trusting yourself to learn from it and handle it…
Well then..
Try it and see, bitches
I never thought I’d say this, but I’m looking deeper into this, and if any of you know any BADASS Ryze-friendly astrologers, please send ‘em my way.
P.S. For something a little lighter than all this spiritual shit, check out The Big Badass Book Of Zodiac, by James Napoli — it’s fun, funny, and also pretty accurate.
Finally, lemme know your thoughts and feelings on astrology and what I’ve shared here, connect with other ryzing stars

Did you like the oh-so-sexy natal chart I posted above? Well, I’ve gone the extra mile and created a blank version for you, which if you have photoshop, you can edit, and if you don’t you can print and write on it. Great post! I’m not into astrology for the first time in my life. Maybe before i just wasn’t ready. However, now its hitting home and im totally hooked! I liked the way you described yourself discovering astrology and how you didn’t buy it at first. I could totally relate to that!! haha.
Thanx Jason,
-MC
Awesome MC! Did you mean “now into astrology” ? lol.
And yeah, everything in life’s about being ready for it.
I see people talk about astrology, god, music, science, math, tai chi and all kinds of things as their “goto religion” — when really what these things are, is our best attempt at language, each one offering a fresh insight into the same, giant… Mystery.
Glad to hear you’re open to new languages!

Hey Jason
YES! Sorry my mistake i made a typo. Yes, im very “INTO” astrology now!
I did go to that web site and put in my birthdate and time etc. Gave a lot of great info. Its pretty astounding. And oddly enough explains an aweful lot of the things that seem spot-on during my experience or why some things may seem “off”. Im pretty excited actually.
Fantastic, dude. That’s what it’s all about. New horizons, and maybe someone will read your experience here, and think, hey, that free chart helped J, and helped Michael, maybe they’ll benefit from it too.
Thanks for contributing man.

Haha! Nice addition – I’m surprised you didn’t comment on that post instead. Either way, I’m glad you’re feelin’ it.

I’ve never been into astrology, but don’t knock it, as I know it helps a huge number of people.. I got put off by a friend who lived and breathed it. When the stars predicted a bad phase, she’d spend all the time looking for the bad things that could happen to her.
I don’t think I’d particularly want to know when something bad is on the cards because if it’s gonna happen, it’s gonna happen and knowing or not knowing surely won’t change it. Likewise with the good stuff.
Fate, shit, call it what you will, happens. It happens all of the time and every moment of every day. The trick is to be able to deal with your own personal fate (or shit) with a positive attitude and to make the most of everything, even if it’s learning from the bad or realising that there’s always someone worse off than yourself.
Carolyn is sharing: Five Proven Headline Formulas To Engage Your Readers
Good attitude, Carolyn!
And that’s funny, because I’ve known people like that too. It comes down to them not seeing astrology as a language to talk about life’s mysteries, and instead seeing it as something to blame and be victim to.
In my experience, professional astrologers usually dont count anything as ‘bad’, they just say ‘something’ is coming up that you’ll have to deal with, or it’ll call you to leave your comfort zones.
Interesting stuff, thanks so much for sharing!

Hi Jason,
I loved this post and it was very insightful. It has inspired me to learn more about astrology. As a Hindu, I know astrology is a big part of the religion. What you wrote about reminded me a bit of the Law of Karma, another important principal in Hinduism, which states that all our actions in this life are governed by our actions in our previous lives. I used to think that this meant one didn’t have control over this life. Nothing could be further from the truth. Indeed, by carrying out new and better actions, we are planting the seeds for new Karma, which serves us in developing as a person.
Great post, my friend.

Wow, thanks so much, Hiten! I love your positive feedback
Chinese astrology, Hindu astrology, and western astrology are all similar yet different, from what I can tell, but in the end, they’re all just paths and languages and tools to discuss something magical in life that we’re all part of.
Yes! It’s very related to the Law Of Karma. You can see this in other paths as well. Jesus said the sins of the father are visited on the son, and doctors tell Mom’s what they do (drink, smoke, etc.) will affect their child – so why not how they act and what they think and their attitudes?
“Planting the seeds for new Karma” – I like that, Hiten!

Hey Jason, this was really a thought provoking article. Especially, the whole part about stars having frequency and matter being vibration. There is an ancient hermetic axiom that goes a little something like this, “As above, so below.” I, too, have completed a birth chart reading and it is frighteningly accurate. This is a really cool post and I’m glad you said something about this topic.
PS: From now on, I will make sure to find out the zodiac sign of every girl I meet.

I think (I hope) I mentioned “As above, so below” in the article, but either way, glad you highlighted it here.
Most people if they take the step to get a chart done, find it very accurate and eye-opening. I’m not saying go further, I’m not saying I ‘believe’ in astrology, I’m just saying there’s goodness to be found there.
And hey, screen chicks how you wanna, many guys just use boob-size, sounds like you go deeper
Hey Jason,
Serendipity indeed!
Love your take on this subject. I totally agree that Astrology is a tool and when used by someone who knows what they’re doing, can be very powerful in bringing clarity to someone. I think it’s a way to read energy, pure and simple, and one of the most sophisticated and complex ways there is. And sure, just like anyone reading energy, it can tell you what you’re currently aligned with, and what is most likely to happen if you do not change your point of attraction. But of course, should you then use this info to make a change in your vibration, you’ll align yourself with a different outcome, proving the astrologer (and the stars) wrong. Ultimately, we still create our own reality.
Huge hugs!
